For HVAC companies

Be the first HVAC company they call.

When the AC quits in July or the furnace won't light in January, homeowners call whoever they find first. We get you to the top of Google Maps, give you a website that books service calls around the clock, and make sure ChatGPT recommends you too.

Free The HVAC playbook: 8 things to do this week

The HVAC playbook

Eight things you can do this week to win more jobs from Google, whether or not you ever work with us. Every number links to where it came from.

01

Answer every call (or let something else)

The cheapest job you'll ever get is the one already calling you. In a heat wave, the company that picks up wins.

An HVAC technician checking an air conditioner with a manifold gauge
1 in 3callers to home service businesses never reach a person, even when they stay on the lineInvoca, 2026
55%of home service businesses never ask the caller to book, even when someone answersInvoca, 2026
  • Plan for peak days. The first hot week of summer and the first cold snap of winter bring a flood of calls. Line up overflow help, an answering service, or online booking before they hit.
  • Text back every missed call within a minute. Most business phone apps can do it automatically. It keeps the customer from dialing the next company on the list.
  • Let people book online after hours. A booking link on your website catches the 11pm “AC not cooling house” search.
  • Ask for the job before you hang up. Use the script below, in your own words.
  • Running Google Local Services Ads? Google says missed calls can hurt your ad ranking there too.
Missed-call text
Hi, this is {Your Business}. Sorry we missed your call, our techs are all out right now. Reply with what's going on and we'll call you back within 30 minutes. If you smell gas, leave the house and call your gas company's emergency line.
End-of-call script
I can have a tech out there today between 3pm and 5pm. Want me to put you down for that? I'll just need your address and the best number to text you when we're on the way.

02

Set up your Google profile in 15 minutes

Your Google Business Profile is what shows up on Google Maps. Most HVAC companies set it up once and never touch it again.

A smiling HVAC service technician standing at the back of his work truck
  • Primary category: HVAC contractor. Google says to pick the most specific category that fits your main business.
  • Add a few more categories, only for work you really do. Common ones: Air conditioning contractor, Air conditioning repair service, Heating contractor, Furnace repair service. Google warns against adding a category for every service.
  • List your services one by one, with a sentence each: AC repair, AC replacement, furnace repair, heat pumps, mini splits, maintenance plans.
  • Hours that match reality. People search “ac repair near me open now” and “hvac near me now.” If you take emergency calls, say so.
  • Real photos, added every month. Clean installs, your trucks, your techs. A tidy new condenser pad says a lot.
  • A service area you actually want to drive to. List the towns, not the whole state.

03

Get more reviews, and reply to every one

Reviews decide who gets the call, and the bar keeps rising.

80%of customers say they're likely to choose a business that replies to every reviewBrightLocal, 2026
50%of customers are less likely to choose a business that posts generic, copy-paste repliesBrightLocal, 2026
  • Ask right after the job, while the house is cooling down and the customer is happy. A text with a direct link works best.
  • Make it one tap. In your Google profile, use “Ask for reviews” to get a short link straight to your review form.
  • Reply to every review within a week, good and bad. Most customers expect a reply within that time.
  • Reply like a person. Use their name, mention the job, and sign it. It shows the next customer what you're like to deal with.

“They tried to sell me a whole new system when I just needed a repair.”

Your reply

I'm sorry it felt that way. Our tech should have laid out the repair option first, with the price, before talking about replacement. I'd like to look at it again myself at no charge, so please call me at {your number}. – Luis, owner

Answer the questions homeowners Google

Before they call, homeowners search their problem. These are real Google searches from October 2026. Each one deserves a short answer on your website, on the page for that service.

A technician inspecting an outdoor AC condenser beside a house

Cooling

  • why is my ac not blowing cold air
  • why is my ac leaking water inside
  • ac making hissing noise
  • frozen ac coils
  • ac not turning on

Heating

  • furnace not turning on
  • why is my furnace blowing cold air
  • why is my furnace leaking water when the ac is on
  • why is my furnace so loud
  • furnace not igniting

Choosing a system

  • heat pump vs ac
  • mini split vs central air
  • new ac unit cost 2,000 sq ft
  • how much does a new hvac system cost
  • furnace replacement financing

Refrigerant

  • r410a refrigerant price
  • ac freon recharge cost
Example answer you can adapt

Why is my AC blowing warm air?

Start with the easy checks: make sure the thermostat is set to cool, replace a dirty air filter, and check that the outdoor unit has power and isn't covered in debris. If it's still blowing warm, the usual causes are a failed capacitor, low refrigerant from a leak, or a frozen coil. Turn the system off so you don't damage the compressor, and give us a call. We'll find the cause and give you the price before we fix it.

Put a short answer on the page, then a clear “Call us” or “Book online” button right under it.

05

Sell maintenance plans to fill the slow seasons

Spring and fall are quiet, then summer and winter hit all at once. A maintenance plan books the quiet months in advance and keeps customers coming back to you.

  • Use ENERGY STAR's own timing: cooling check-ups in the spring and heating check-ups in the fall, before the rush. Quote it on your plan page so it doesn't sound like a sales pitch.
  • Make it one tap to join from your website, with clear pricing and what's included: two tune-ups a year, priority scheduling, a discount on repairs.
  • Remind people about filters. ENERGY STAR says to check them monthly. A quick reminder text keeps your name in front of the customer all year.
  • Book the next visit before you leave. “Want me to put you down for your fall heating check?” is the easiest sale you'll make all season.

06

Win replacements by being the honest one

System replacements are your biggest tickets, and homeowners research them for weeks. Two recent changes come up in nearly every conversation, so explain them on your site before the customer has to ask.

$0federal tax credit for heat pumps installed after 2025 (it used to be up to $2,000 a year)IRS
2025the year new home AC and heat pump systems stopped using R-410A refrigerantEPA
  • Explain the refrigerant change in plain words. Since January 1, 2025, new systems use refrigerants like R-454B or R-32 instead of R-410A. People search “r410a refrigerant price” and “ac freon recharge cost” because they're hearing about it. A short, calm explanation builds trust.
  • Be straight about the tax credit. The federal heat pump credit ended for systems installed after 2025. Point people to state or utility rebates if there are any where you work.
  • Show typical price ranges by home size. People search “new ac unit cost 2,000 sq ft.” A simple table on your site answers exactly that.
  • Always lay out the repair option first. Then the replacement option and why. It's the fastest way to earn a 5-star review instead of a 1-star one.
  • Offer financing, and say so. “Furnace replacement financing” is a real search. If you offer it, put it on the page.

Get recommended by ChatGPT

Homeowners have started asking AI who to call, and whether they need a new system. It's still early, which is exactly why it's worth getting ahead of.

45%of customers now ask ChatGPT or other AI tools to recommend local businesses, up from 6% a year earlierBrightLocal, 2026
82%of customers read the AI-written review summaries that sites like Google now showBrightLocal, 2026
  • Same name, address, and phone everywhere: Google, Yelp, Angi, Facebook, your website. Mismatched details make it harder for Google and AI tools to be sure they have the right business.
  • Say what you do and where, in plain words. “We install heat pumps and mini splits in Mesa, Gilbert, and Chandler” beats “Total comfort solutions.”
  • Answer common questions on your site (see above). AI tools lean on pages that answer questions clearly, like “heat pump vs AC.”
  • Reviews that mention the job. Google's AI review summaries are built from what customers write, so a review that says “replaced our furnace in Gilbert the same week” says a lot.
  • Try it yourself. Ask ChatGPT “Who's the best HVAC company in {your town}?” and see who it names.

What customers search

The searches that bring HVAC jobs

HVAC searches spike with the weather and swing between urgent repairs and big system replacements. Showing up near the top for both keeps your techs busy year-round.

  • ac repair near me open now
  • ac not blowing cold air
  • furnace not turning on
  • hvac near me
  • new ac unit cost with installation
  • furnace replacement cost
  • mini split installation
  • hvac maintenance plans near me

The problem

Why good HVAC companies lose jobs online.

1Not found

Buried during the busiest weeks

When a heat wave hits, every homeowner in town searches at once. Without a strong Google profile and pages for the services you offer, the calls go to whoever ranks above you.

2Not chosen

Phones ring while techs are on the roof

Peak season means every tech is out and the office is swamped. If nobody answers and your website can't book, the customer calls the next company on the list.

3Not recommended

Missing from AI answers

People ask ChatGPT whether they need a new AC or a heat pump, and who to call. If AI can't find clear, consistent information about you, it names a competitor.

FAQ

Questions from hvac contractors

Something else on your mind? Ask us on your free call.

Do you only work with HVAC companies?

No. We work with home service businesses of all kinds, from plumbers and electricians to roofers and landscapers. HVAC is a great fit, though: weather-driven demand, big replacement jobs, and maintenance plans are exactly what our approach is built for.

Can you help me sell more system replacements and maintenance plans?

Yes. We build your website and Google profile around the work you want more of, with clear pages for replacements, heat pumps, and maintenance plans, and an easy way for customers to sign up or book online.

Should I keep paying for lead sites like Angi or HomeAdvisor?

That's your call, and we'll look at the numbers with you. Leads from those sites are often shared with other contractors. Our goal is to build your own Google presence so more customers find and call you directly, which usually means relying less on bought leads over time.

What happens when everyone calls at once during a heat wave?

Your website chat answers questions and books open slots around the clock, so customers can grab a time even when every line is busy. You decide which services and hours are bookable.

How long until I get more calls?

Quick wins like profile fixes and review requests go live in your first week. Climbing the map for competitive searches like "ac repair near me" usually takes a few months, depending on your area and competition.
